Kitchen Table Topic ~ 05/09/2011 ~ Have you ever been in a serious relationship with someone your family couldn't stand and/or he/she also did not like your family? How did you handle this? If not, could you be in a relationship with this situation?

No I have not and I could not be. God and family are first. I love my family and am close with them so that would not work. I value their opinions within reason. When I say family I don't mean every single family member but my immediate fam...ily and any other member who I am close with. Family is very important so not only do I want him to get along with mine, but me get along with his, and also him get along with his own family. I generally look for that as well at the beginning of a relationship to see how he treats his family and vice versa (is their respect for one another, do they step all over him or vice versa?). Now there are some exceptions because not everyone has a great relationship with their families but it is important to me if we are to unite and not only bring 2 families together but build one.

I did. Sometimes it pays to take the advice of those who truly have your best interest at heart. Family counts, especially "a mom's perspective." As a woman, they usually have a unique perspective and life experience to back it up. I realize now that game recognizes game.
